HOTEL WATCH

SPEARFISH, SOUTH DAKOTA

I and Tom stayed at the Travelodge in Spearfish, South Dakota.  The hotel was just like a hodgepodge of houses for the guests and
casino.  We weren't granted the AARP discount because they said that the rate was cheap already - $45.00/night.  We stayed in a
raised bungalow frame house that have 2 rooms.  It seemed very cozy till I inspect the bed sheets.  There were pieces of dried
insect bodies on the white sheets.  I was too tired to complain that night because it was very late and I worked the pow wow the
whole day.  I shook the pieces of insects and tried to sleep.  I didn't sleep at all because I was afraid that live insects would come
crawling into my body.  Even though the weather was blanket weather, I tried to sleep on top of the bed not using any blanket.  The
next morning I complained to the lady at the reception.  she said that that room hasn't been used for a long time and those were bed
bugs that had to be fumigated.  I asked that my bed sheet be changed.

After a long day's work at the pow wow, we returned to the room.  The bed sheets were changed but the attendant didn't leave us
the complimentary soap, plastic glasses, shampoo and coffee.  The coffee we used the day before was not cleaned.

When we checked out, they charged me an extra $3.00 for warranty of the safe which we never used.

STATE COLLEGE, PENNSYLVANIA

As I posted last weekend, April 7-9,2006, State College, Pennsylvania had all the hotels fully-booked.  A week before, I called Trip Reward
and Redicard for reservations in State College and there were no rooms available.  They gave me the local numbers of the hotels.  I
called them all and they were full.  I was frantic, so I called hotels.com and they were able to get me a room at Super 8 for April 8,
Saturday.  I have AARP but hotels.com didn't honor it because they said that their rate of $78+ including tax  were lower than AARP.  I
asked if I can get Trip Rewards, they said NO.

For April 7, I was lucky to get reservation on Thursday, April 6th at Ramada Inn.  They wouldn't give me discount for AARP, either.  When I
checked out, my bill was $85.72 but when I checked my bank, Ramada Inn charged me $105.82.  I called Ramada Inn and said that
when I presented my card, they swiped it and added $20.00 just in case I have additional charges to my room.  I was charged top dollar
for a lousy room with people running around all night and noisy.

On Saturday, when I got to Super 8, I asked them why my Trip Rewards wasn't honored by Hotels.com.  They said they will overwrite.  I
asked how much would my room be if I didn't go through hotels.com.  They said $53.00.

I made reservation on Sept. 4, 2006 for a 2-night stay starting Friday, Sept. 8, 2006.  I requested a ground floor
room because Tom had angioplasty.  I paid the room in full on Thursday hoping that my request be granted.  On
the midnight of Friday, the lady who booked us saved the key cards in an envelope marked 244.  So, she never
saved anything for us.  She said she cannot guarantee even to an elderly guy who has heart problem.  We
were given a room at the farthest building on the second floor with no heat or air condition.  The room was
equipped with 2 fans to help eliminate the stale air.  We were too tired to complain.
